We’ve got all sorts of things connected to our gas network. Homes, businesses, power stations, even buses!

Click below to find out what you need to know.

  • Connect your home

We know that setting up a new gas supply can be confusing. So here’s the information you need to apply for and pay for a gas connection for your home.

There's a few ways you can get a quote for a gas connection.

    How much will it cost?

While each connection is slightly different, the costs below is standard for up 10m of work on public land and 20m of work on your land.

    • If you dig the necessary trenches: £732 excluding VAT
    • If we dig the necessary trenches: £1019 excluding VAT
    • If there is only public land to work on: £629 excluding VAT

If you’re happy with the price, we’ll need payment as soon as possible, and we’ll contact you within twelve working days to arrange the work. We aim to finish the work and have you on gas within six weeks of you paying for it.

Remember we don't install gas meters - you'll have to arrange that with a gas supplier. Once you've paid for your connection, we will give you a Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) so you can arrange this.

    More?

You can find out detailed information about connecting to the gas network here. If you are doing some of the work yourself, read about our requirements below:

If you live in a village that is not on the gas network, we may be able to help you connect too. Call 0800 072 6814 to speak to an advisor (phone lines open Monday - Friday).

  • Connect multiple homes or your business

To connect multiple domestic properties like a new housing development or a business, it's a slightly different process.

Connecting multiple homes or business is just as easy!

If you'll be using large amounts of gas, we may need more information from you about the how much gas you're likely to use, and when you'll be using it. To make sure we get it right, we might also need to carry out a feasibility or design study. This will help us come up with the best cost option for you.

    How much will it cost?

    Design fee

When you request a quote to connect businesses and multiple homes to the gas network, you will be charged a design fee of between £233 and £777 – dependent on your expected gas demand/usage. This reflects the amount of work required to produce detailed design plans.

    Connection cost

When you’ve paid the design fee, we’ll give you a quote that is valid for 90 days. If you’re happy with the price, we’ll need payment as soon as possible, and we’ll contact you within twelve working days to arrange the work. We aim to finish the work and have you on gas within eight weeks of you paying for it.

While each connection is slightly different, the costs below are standard for new housing developments with us digging up to 20m on public land and you digging the necessary trenches on your land.

    • 3-10 homes: £1,171 per home excluding VAT
    • 11-100 homes: £926 per home excluding VAT

Remember we don't install gas meters - you'll have to arrange that with a gas supplier. Once you've paid for your connection, we will give you a Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) so you can arrange this.
