Wales & West Utilities scooped a quarter of the awards up for grabs in the UK Energy Innovation Awards.
The company picked up two awards for its pioneering Freedom Project in the Best Collaborative Project and Best Emerging Cross Vector Technology categories, whilst also winning the Best Social Impact Award for its involvement with Egnida Group Ltd in mapping fuel poor homes that could benefit from being on our gas network.
The awards, held at Liverpool’s Titanic Hotel, showcase the best innovations within the gas and electricity sectors and are greatly supported by the industry.
Wales and West Utilities Energy Strategy Director, Chris Clarke said:
“We are thrilled to have been named winners in three of the twelve categories in the awards. To be chosen by a panel of industry experts recognises the innovative work we’re doing to meet Net Zero.
“Customers are at the heart of all the future of energy work we do. In the future, green gases like hydrogen and biomethane, alongside smart hybrid heating systems like those in the Freedom Project, will make home heating zero carbon by 2050 – while keeping disruption to homes and communities to a minimum.
“But it’s not just about customers in the future. Our industry leading mapping work with Egnida helps us identify fuel poor homes that could benefit from being connected to the gas grid, and helps us link them to available funding”
