Gas emergency and pipeline service, Wales & West Utilities is working to upgrade gas pipes in the Castle Street area of Conwy.

The work, which is essential to keep the gas flowing to heat homes and power businesses in the area so that people are safe and warm for generations to come, will start on 25 November and will finish on 1 December 2019

Wales & West Utilities has worked closely with Conwy County Borough Council to plan the work and it has been agreed that a lane closure on Castle Street will be in place to stop motorists turning left onto the Conwy Road Bridge, heading eastbound towards Llandudno Junction.

Due to the width of local roads, a diversion route will be via the town’s one-way system, exiting Conwy town centre on Bangor Road. Motorists will then be able to turn right onto the A55 and exit at the next junction (18).

Advance traffic warnings will be in place and the diversion route will be clearly signposted.

We know that working on roads like these is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.

While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across Conwy. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

We’ll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum.
