This week has seen Wales & West Utilities continue its gas pipe upgrade scheme in Bidford which will ensure that gas keeps flowing to heat local homes and power local businesses for years to come.
The £186,000 investment work, which started before Christmas and resumed on Monday (7 January), involves working in the Tower Hill Road, Waterloo Road and High Street areas of the town. Barring any engineering difficulties, it is due to be complete by the end of February 2019.
Wales & West Utilities has worked with both Warwickshire County Council and Bidford Parish Council to ensure disruption to local people and commuters is kept to a minimum. It has been agreed that rolling two and three-way traffic lights will be used throughout the scheme, as appropriate, and these will be in operation 24 hours a day.
Wales & West Utilities Programme Controller for the area, Dave Badsey, is managing the work and said:
“We know that working on roads like these is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future. We’ll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible.
“We’ve worked closely with Bidford Parish Council to minimise the effect of our work on the local community and commuters and hope that local people bear with us whilst we carry out this essential scheme.”
