Cefn Mawr gas pipe upgrade set for 2020
Gas emergency and pipeline service, Wales & West Utilities is starting the new year with an essential gas pipe upgrade scheme in the Queen Street area of Cefn Mawr.
The £55,000 work, which is essential to keep the gas flowing to heat homes and power businesses in the area so that people are safe and warm for generations to come, will begin on 2 January 2020 and, barring any engineering difficulties, will be complete at the end of February.
As part of the work, it has been agreed with Wrexham County Borough Council that a traffic management plan will be in place. This involves phased road closures in Cefn Mawr for the duration of the scheme. The initial closure will begin on 2 January, where Queen Street will be closed from the junction of Dolydd Road to Plas Kynaston Terrace. Access for residents will be maintained throughout the works where possible and diversion routes will be clearly signposted.
We know that working on roads like these is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.
While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across Cefn Mawr.
