Wales & West Utilities is thanking the Dursley community for their patience whilst work to upgrade gas pipes in the town was carried out.

The work, in the May Lane area of town, began on 4 September and was essential to ensure the gas is kept flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses, keeping people safe and warm for generations to come. Wales & West Utilities will need to return to the town to complete a small section of work at the beginning of next year. Dates are not planned yet but will likely involve working over the course of a weekend.

Wales & West Utilities Mick Gallavin managed this work and said:

We are pleased to finish this work on time and would like to thank the local community for bearing with us as we carried out this work.

While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across the wider area. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

This work was essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future.

Wales & West Utilities, the gas emergency and pipeline service, brings energy to 7.5m people across the south west of England and Wales.
