Wales & West Utilities is thrilled to announce the success of being shortlisted in four award categories for the forthcoming prestigious IGEM Gas Industry Awards 2025.   

The shortlist announced by IGEM confirmed that Wales & West Utilities are finalists in the following categories:

Large Company of the Year Award (Over 250 Employees)  

The commitment to business wide continuous improvement is recognised in this category with a emphasis on the company’s track record on safety, workforce resilience and supporting vulnerable customers, while innovating toward net zero targets.

Customer Service award

The unique partnership between Wales & West Utilities and Kidney Care UK, is celebrated in this award category, supporting vulnerable people with chronic kidney disease to help maximise income and manage the rising costs of energy.   

Engineer of the Year Award

Howell Jones, Head of Engineering Compliance, is recognised in this award category for his pioneering approach to improve colleague, safety and business performance across the business.

Investment in People Award

The offer of unique financial wellbeing benefits to colleagues across Wales & West Utilities is the focus of this award submission, with flexible choices introduced to enable colleagues to allocate their Financial Wellbeing Pot in a way which best suits their circumstances and long term financial plans.

Wales & West Utilities is also shortlisted alongside the other Gas Distribution Networks (GDNs) for a collaborative project focusing on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. This unique project brought together GDNs from across GB during Black History Month to celebrate diversity and to understand how personal talent for all can be unlocked across the industry.

The Gas Industry Awards were introduced in 1998 to recognise and reward the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations working in the gas sector. Organised by the Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers (IGEM) and the Energy & Utilities Alliance (EUA), the Awards will be held on 8th May in Central London.
