Colleagues from across Wales and the south west of England have pulled together and, with the support of their employer, Wales & West Utilities, have donated over £61k to local community organisations and charities during the course of last year.

Staff at the gas emergency and pipeline service have always worn their hearts on their sleeves, seeking to raise money for a host of charitable organisations. Of the total they raised, a whopping £37,033 went to charities close to their hearts, which was then boosted by Wales & West Utilities to the tune of £14,968 through the company’s match-funding scheme. A further £9,000 was provided to local sports organisations through sponsorship.

The money has gone to directly benefit thousands of people across the company’s operating area ranging from local and national charities to local sports clubs and teams.

Bethan Jones, Wales & West Utilities Head of People & Engagement, is delighted and said:

Our colleagues go the extra mile to raise money for charity whilst also taking on a host of volunteer roles to benefit local communities across our operating area. We are always delighted to support their efforts and seek to make their fundraising go further.

As a company, we are committed to supporting the communities we serve across Wales and the south west of England – not only in heating and powering homes and businesses but in giving something back through fundraising and charitable giving.

We are now looking forward to seeing if we can break this target in 2024!
