Wales & West Utilities is progressing well in upgrading gas pipes in the Pontygwindy Road area of Caerphilly.

Work has recently finished on the junction outside Asda, and the temporary traffic lights have moved south to the junction with Virginia View. Barring any engineering difficulties this section of the project will be finished by 14 April, and the whole scheme will complete in May.

The £350,000 investment work started last year and is essential to keep the gas flowing safely and reliably to local homes and businesses, keeping people warm for generations to come.

Wales & West Utilities has worked closely with Caerphilly County Borough Council to plan the scheme.

Wales & West Utilities Andrew Coleman is managing this gas pipe upgrade work and said:

We are making good progress with this work and would like to thank the local community for their patience whilst it’s ongoing.

While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across the wider Caerphilly area. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future.
