Wales & West Utilities will shortly begin work to upgrade gas pipes in the Old Mill Road area of Dwygyfylchi.
The work will begin on 7 October and, barring any engineering difficulties, it will finish in the middle of January next year. The work is essential to keep the gas flowing safely and reliably to local homes and businesses, keeping people warm for generations to come.
Wales & West Utilities has worked closely with Conwy County Council to plan the work, and it has been agreed that traffic management will be in place.
This includes:
- A temporary closure on Ysguborwen Road, between the junctions of Glan Yr Afon Road and Old Mill Road (7 – 27 October)
- A rolling road closure on Old Mill Road, starting from the junction with Ysguborwen Road, up to the junction of Ger Y Glyn (25 October – 17 January 2025)
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times, and vehicle access for residents will be maintained, where possible. A local diversion route will be clearly signposted, directing traffic via Ysguborwen Road, Trefforris Road, Conwy Old Road, and Sychnant Pass Road.
Wales & West Utilities Adam Smith is managing this gas pipe upgrade work and said:
We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future. We’ll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum.
