Re gas leak, Foundry Lane, Chippenham
Martyn Pallant, Wales & West Utilities Network Service Manager said:
Our work to restore supplies to customers in the area has continued today and the majority of properties are now back on gas. We are aware that some properties are unoccupied and where we haven’t been able to gain access to properties, we have left cards with our contact details to arrange for us to visit to restore the gas safely.
As the repair to the pipe, which was damaged by a contractor, is complex and will take a few days to complete, keeping customers in gas will remain a challenge during this time. This is because we have to continue to carefully manage the pressure in the system to ensure it is sufficient to keep everyone in supply.
We will be carefully managing the system until the repair is complete and our teams will be active in the area over the coming days to quickly respond to any supply issues should they arise.
Work to repair the pipe is already underway and our repair team will be working over the coming days, including the weekend, until the work is completed.
