Wales & West Utilities is to start work on a £175,000 gas pipe investment scheme in Exmouth which will make sure that local homes and businesses continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply to the area for years to come.
The essential work will involve replacing 760 metres of old metal gas pipes with new plastic ones and will start on 4 January 2017. It is expected to be finished by the summer.
Ahead of the scheme, Wales & West Utilities is inviting local people to a public drop-in information event so that they can come and find out more about the work. The event will be held on Tuesday 29 November 2016 at All Saints Church Hall, Exeter Road, EX8 1QD between 3:30pm and 7pm.
In planning the work, and to make sure there is the minimum disruption to the local community and road users, the scheme has been split into six phases which will involve working along Exeter Road. Partial road closures will be in place whilst work takes place.
Wales & West Utilities Programme Controller for the South West, Jim Lee, said:

“We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to support the area into the future.
“Replacing old metal gas pipes can be challenging and depending on what we find when we start work, our plans may need to change. We will make sure local people are kept updated of our progress.
