Wales & West Utilities is making good progress in its £280,000 gas pipe investment work in the Canton area of Cardiff which will keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses and make sure the gas network is fit for the future.
The company has been working closely with The City of Cardiff Council to make sure that this work is planned to keep disruption to a minimum. As part of the final phase of work, temporary three-way traffic lights will be in place at the junction of Lansdowne Road and Sanatorium Road. These will be in operation 24 hours a day but manned at peak times to keep disruption to a minimum. The lights will be in place for three weeks while this final phase of work is completed. The entrance and exit into Grosvenor Road from Lansdowne Road has also been closed as part of the traffic management.
As part of the scheme Wales & West Utilities has already successfully completed work on Brunswick Street, Sanatorium Road and Grosvenor Street and is pleased with the progress to date.
Wales & West Utilities Programme Controller for Wales, Francis Kirk, is managing the work and said:
“We started this important scheme in January and have made good progress. We know that working on roads like these is not ideal, but it really is essential to keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.
“Having worked closely with The City of Cardiff Council we hope the traffic lights we’ll have in place will allow us to complete the final phase of our work with minimal disruption so that we can complete our work as safely and as quickly as possible.
