A bit about me

I left school at 16 to become an apprentice footballer at Cardiff City. I was unsuccessful and didn’t get a professional contract. Instead I switched my career path to engineering, got my A-Levels and went to University to study Aerospace Engineering.

Why a graduate programme?

After finishing University I didn’t really know what I wanted to do as a career. I heard about the Wales & West Utilities graduate programme and did some research into the company. I liked what I saw – applied and was successful. The people here are great, made me feel welcome from the very start of the process and opened my eyes to the opportunities that the company can offer and support you with.

Support and development

The support provided is great – your mentor meets all your needs for professional development and really helps you on the path to becoming a Chartered Engineer.

What did you enjoy most about the graduate programme?

Currently I’m working in Operations, on the frontline keeping the gas flowing to homes and businesses. I love my role as every day is different and provides a different problem that needs to be solved.

How has the programme helped your career?

The graduate programme has opened my eyes to the possibilities of progression within the company while giving me the engineering competency, training and support I need to become chartered.
