What we’re looking for?

As part of commitment and investment to develop our people, we’re looking for a Trainee Performance Manager on a 12-month fixed term contract to support succession planning and existing workload.

You will be provided with a personal training and development plan to help you gain the skills and experience to effectively lead our Build & Repair teams. You will be responsible for your own development, so it’s important to be a self-starter, with the motivation to progress and take on extra responsibilities in your role.

Your role will include standby and site visits along with auditing and attending Safe Control of Operations (SCO) activities.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Create a culture which encourages excellent performance
  • Embrace and champion change
  • Role model outstanding behaviours
  • Celebrate the successes of your team and individuals
  • Deliver sustainable improvements in outputs of the workforce
  • Prepare forward looking plans to ensure that current objectives are achieved, and future expectations are considered
  • Work within and promote the philosophy of safe team working and development across all Wales & West Utilities activities to achieve business objectives and continuously improve performance.

You can read a full job description here.

You’ll need to have:

  • To have the right attitude and exceptional people skills
  • To be committed to continuing your personal development
  • The ability to lead and motivate operational teams over a wide geography in a similar operating environment
  • The appropriate technical and/or leadership experience
  • Knowledge of appropriate legislation, policy and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of relevant codes of practice, engineering instructions, safety and statutory regulation.  The willingness to work on a standby rota to cover a 24/7 gas emergency service

We would also love to hear about anything else you feel you could add or bring to the role!

As we are a safety critical organisation, all offers of employment are subject to pre-employment drug & alcohol screening.
