Wales & West Utilities recruiting apprentices to keep communities safe and warm

In National Apprenticeship Week 2017 gas emergency and pipeline service Wales & West Utilities is urging those who think they have what it takes to help keep 7.5 million people safe and warm to apply for a place on their apprenticeship scheme.

The company, which is committed to recruiting talented individuals from across the area it serves, is recruiting 23 new apprentices to work on its operations across Wales and the south west of England, delivering on its pledge to invest in new recruits so they have the skills, confidence and innovative thinking to help drive Wales & West Utilities’ business long into the future.

Since the company was set up in 2005, Wales & West Utilities have recruited more than 140 apprentices. The 2017 intake will focus on the companies Build & Repair teams that maintain existing gas equipment and lay new gas supply pipes, as well as Mechanical Engineers and Electrical and Instrumentation Engineers for Network Services teams who maintain the control systems of the gas network.

Apprentices  will be based across the company’s operating area and go through the three-year programme to develop the skills to keep the gas flowing and make sure the gas network is fit for the future.
